Richard Rowe, president of Scituate Federal Savings, elected to regional board

Rowe brings over 30 years of experience to this role-

Richard L. Rowe, Jr., president and COO of Scituate Federal Savings Bank of Marshfield, Mass., was elected East Regional Director of the board of directors for the Financial Managers Society (FMS) at its annual meeting in Orlando, Fla., today. Rowe has been actively involved with FMS for the past seven years and had previously served as Chairman of the Finance Council.

Rowe, along with the rest of the volunteers on the board of directors, is charged with guiding the association as it fulfills its mission to enhance the professional development of its members – CFOs, controllers, internal auditors and other financial professionals from community banks, thrifts and credit unions.

"The challenges that every financial manager faces each and every day has escalated to such a level that it has become quite apparent that only the best managed financial institutions will survive,” states Rowe. “This measure of success requires access to the highest level of education and training, and in my experience there is no better cost-effective resource than FMS. I am proud to serve on the Board of Directors and to participate in providing the financial manager with the resources necessary to address these ongoing and ever changing challenges."

In his capacity as president and COO, Rowe is responsible for managing all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the bank and is also a member of the Senior Management Committee and serves as Treasurer of Mutual Holding Company. Rowe is also a Professor of Accounting for the New England College of Finance and is a frequent FMS workshops and conference presenter. Rowe is a certified public accountant and holds a masters in business administration.
