The value of direct mail

The study, conducted during February 2008, found that of people ages 15 and up, 76% who recieved a direct mail piece with an offer chose to purchase the product because of it. Additionally, on a scale of 1 to 5, survey respondents gave direct mail an average score of 3.9.
E-mail communication scored just above 3, while other methods of communication (phone, text messaging, social-networking sites, etc) averaged under 3. The survey went on to note that when it comes to unsolicited promotions, consumers prefer direct mail over e-mail blasts, which are viewed as SPAM and typically are filtered.
