Mid-Cape Home Centers “Build Week” community service effort deemed a success!

Mid-Cape Home Centers is pleased to announce that “Build Week 2009” was a huge success! “Build Week” is a community service effort by Mid-Cape Home Centers, to rebuild and repair the YMCA’s Camp Lyndon in Sandwich.

"With the tough economic times we are all facing the YMCA did not know what to expect for Build Week 2009.” Said PJ Richardson, Youth & Community Branch Director of the YMCA Cape Cod.

“The leadership Mid-Cape Home Centers exemplified was amazing. Not only did we expand the program to a week long event, but Mid-Cape reached out to even more contractors and suppliers than last year and had the wisdom to invite Cape Cod Tech students to help and enjoy the experience. The result was outstanding, youth development in action... Local students worked along side Cape builders, with state of the art tools and supplies, all for the good of building a stronger Cape Cod Community."

“We were thrilled to expand on our original idea for Camp Lyndon. Last year, it was Build Day – this year, Build Week!” Said Doug Bohannon, President of Mid-Cape Home Centers. “Without our Mid-Cape Home Centers teams, builder, engineer and architect volunteers, and the students from the Cape Cod Technical High School in Harwich, this couldn¹t have happened.”

Mid-Cape Home Centers organized the building and painting of 4 sheds/storage units, a new handicapped ramp for the main hall, new loading dock, shored up a gazebo, and facilited many other projects to benefit the camp.

Occupying 79 acres of pine woods with a freshwater lake front, Camp Lyndon offers a unique setting for a variety of traditional summer day camp activities and serves thousands of children and families on Cape Cod.
