The Falmouth Chamber of Commerce will host its third in the Green Breakfast Series on December 9th from 7:30-9 AM. The event will be held at Falmouth Academy, located at 7 Highfield Drive, Falmouth, MA 02540. Cost for the event is $5 and is open to the public.
Breakfast will include a discussion by Kathy Schatzberg of Cape Cod Community College on the college's sustainability efforts, including its LEED-certified building as well as other campus efforts such as recycling, energy reduction, job training, landscaping, the College & University Presidents' Climate Commitment, and other carbon-emission-reduction efforts. There will also be tips and information provided on how the college can help our local businesses in adopting similar green initiatives.
A “Green Campus,” Falmouth Academy teaches its students the importance of reducing its carbon footprint with their FARE program (FA Recycles for the Environment) which involves the entire school. Efforts to reduce FA’s waste footprint and to educate students on the value of environmental stewardship have been recognized by MassRecycle, who awarded FA the Institutional Recycling Award in 2002, and by the Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth’s Award for Excellence in Environmental Education in 2004. For his efforts to raise awareness about energy and the environment at Falmouth Academy, Mr. Sperduto was chosen by the Association to Preserve Cape Cod as one of its 40 Environmental Champions in 2008.
Thanks to the wonderful team at Cavossa Disposal, guests may each bring an electronic device for FREE recycling.
