Brief Summary of mission, history and goals: HHCC is a 501 (c) 3, organized in 1988 as a recognized affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, Inc. and has a long and distinguished history as a non-profit affordable housing developer. Our mission is to work in partnership with families in need to build homes, hope, lives and community on Cape Cod. We seek to make affordable housing a matter of conscience and action for all people – and work towards the end that every one will have at the minimum a simple, decent home on terms they can afford to pay.

HHCC serves all 15 towns of Barnstable County, and has constructed 60 homes in 15 towns and has provided 85 adults and 150 children with permanent housing. During calendar 2007-08 we completed nine Habitat for Humanity homes: five in Falmouth (a single home on Sippewissett Road and two duplexes on Sam Turner Road) and four homes on James Road in the Town of Brewster.

The goal established in our most recent strategic plan is to build 5-7 affordable homes each year and we could not accomplish this without the support of our major funders, donations of land, in-kind services, grants and contributions from our many supportive partners in volunteer time and cash contributions.

In 2008-09, local Habitat homes will be sold for no more than $105,000. The monthly no-interest mortgage payments each family makes are dedicated to the construction of more Habitat homes for other families in need. Monthly mortgage payments total approximately $625 to cover principal, insurance and property taxes. All new Habitat homes are deed restricted to be affordable and available to a family of similar need upon resale. No other affordable housing developer is specifically targeting families at or below 65% of area median income for homeownership. Habitat’s 20-year, no-interest mortgage, allows us to serve the neediest residents of the area.
